Ka mahia te ingoa pūtaiao Pongo[1] mō tētahi puninga whakangote. Ko te ingoa noa ko tuahuru.[2] He huruhuru me kura tona tinana. Kei te noho waenga ngā rākau i ngā ngahere o ngā motu Humatora me Poroneo ā-Āhia-ki-te-tonga-mā-rāwhiti.
Ka ingoatia mawas i ngā motu Humatora me Poroneo, ka ingoatia maias i te whenua Harawaka i te motu Poroneo.[3] Ka ingoatia hoki me te kupu orangutan mai te reo Marāiu: he aro te kupu orang ki te "tangata"; he ōrite te kupu "utan" me te kupu uta i te reo Māori, e aro ki te "ngahere".[4]
