renaming to Hauiti

[takatā pūtake]

the article title should be renamed to Hauiti. source of the term: Hauiti, would come straight from Google Translate 116.251.168.128 20:04, 2 Hune 2025 (UTC)Reply

Google Translate passes 'Haiti' through from English to Māori unchanged, and in the opposite direction, translates 'Te whenua o Hauiti' as 'The land of Hauiti'. Te Aka Māori Dictionary does not know 'Haiti', and translates 'Hauiti' as small or minor. Google finds 'Hauiti' as a name or iwi, not as a country. It may be that no one has ever tried to find a suitable transliteration for this country, and it is more appropriate that we just use the name unchanged than to invent our own transliteration for it. Just my opinion.-gadfium (talk) 04:41, 3 Hune 2025 (UTC)Reply
