Your questions about language help and interface

[takatā pūtake]

Hello again, Heiko. Thanks for the very recent addition to my talk page.

The Community Portal has in its second sentence a link to the te reo Māori page, where the Ngata dictionary is prominent (and the rorohiko one may be listed when one of us gets around to it - it is on my User page; I discovered it only recently). Grammar, etc, online is a little harder to find, but from memory I think at least one of the Portal links helps there. I should have another look. (If I had all the time in the world, I would transcribe (probably to Wikisource?) the whole of my 1894 grammar book instead of just tiny extracts!)

Interface: The founders of the site, who included at least two people with some ability in Te reo Māori, translated some. I've translated a little of the interface and even changed a bit of what they did. Our very good friend Node ue has done a bit too, as is fitting in view of his "mi-2" "status". He may do more, after he has attended to those five red links in "his" welcome message above!! As my status appears to be lower than his, I don't want to risk too much criticism. Until we get a "mi-3" or two, I'm not at all concerned to do more. Because of the history of education and culture in Aotearoa, 99% of the people who could reasonably be expected to contribute in Te reo Māori are perfectly competent in English too.

Finally a question for you - have you examined my contributions to "your" wiki? Most of them were soon after we "met", and you weren't contributing there for several days, so maybe you should look at my contributions list. I'm rather pleased with my Wikipedia:Wikipedians na Spraak, and I could do more calendar-related pages if given a little feedback on what I have done so far.

Fründliche Gröten! Robin Patterson 06:23, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

Kia ora Heiko, you have been banned due to bad-faith adding of English content to the main page at this Wiki and personal attacks, from anonymous IPs and from this user name. In addition, since you do not speak Māori, it seems unlikely that you will have anything constructive to contribute here in the future. If you wish to make any edits, please feel free to e-mail me and we can discuss this. I'd like to think I am a reasonable person, and am certainly willing to reconsider. --Node ue 21:25, 7 Hune 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry node, I am going to overrule you here. There is no need to block someone who hasn't contributed since 2005. Please discuss anything like this before you do it. Kahuroa 21:34, 7 Hune 2008 (UTC)Reply
That is a good point. I have unprotected the talkpage. --Node ue 21:54, 7 Hune 2008 (UTC)Reply
