Year-pages for Aotearoa

It seems you (or someone earlier) duplicated much of my "en:" talk page, but it's OK now. I agree that the timeline and year questions would be better discussed on an article-related page, as you suggest. My bit on a user-talk page was just to touch base since three people were discussing the subject there.

When this WP really gets going, we will be able to have separate pages such as "2005 ki Aotearoa", which most NZers would be able to contribute to; dates and names would be no trouble even for non-speakers (leaving the fluent speakers to put into Maori anything else there was in an entry - eg "earthquake near..."). Articles about NZ happenings in "en:" and other WPs could link to them, eg "(See Maori equivalent)". One day, I'm confident, we will get a fluent Maori speaker active here.

How you can help

Great to have you on board. As I hinted on User_talk:164.78.252.56, it's worth having a look at how User:Rocastelo created and improved the Galicia cities articles last month and his fellow-Galician User:Prevert added templates and categories and other embellishments. Then I added a sort of a sentence here and there where it seemed to be within my vocabulary and syntactical knowledge. You could do the same kind of starter for our river settlements and other towns, using my "model" as a base, maybe, and I will improve them where practicable.

Stubs

Until we get thousands of articles, this administrator doesn't mind stubs that are at least partly in te reo Māori; and he can be expected to carry a bit of authority while he remains the main contributor as indicated by the statistics (and has actually contributed rather more than the statistics show - the two big "anonymous" bundles).

Porridge?

ThanX for your patients... Although some maori actually diffused its way into my head, at this point of my life, esp with my brain fast becoming porridge, the best I can do is nag a friend or two to do the non-english versions of some pages I have founded/stubed. And even at that my english is also turning (and was always) porridge. (I even wonder if I will get chased off en: before mi: ?? :-)

Thank you for the idea of getting friends involved. I promise to be kind to them and you. And thank you for showing me how easy it is to make a text box.
But your mention of "porridge" reminded me that I haven't had breakfast apart from a mug of tea, and as it's nearly 3pm I'd better free up the phone line for my better half and see what I can do to seven Weet-Bix with trim milk. Robin Patterson 02:54, 7 May 2005 (UTC)

Basically there is a whole pile of English on the mi Namespace template... I am not sure where to change this (There will be a mi version somewhere of this da php page). I guess my chief interest is in NSEW, but words like User Contributions, Help and Donations could be replaced with English at the same time.

"There will be a mi version somewhere" - don't count on it, my friend! That's where your Māori-speaking associates may come in unless we get authoritative help from the Māori Language Commission. And if you want to be able to read those interface things in English, have another look at your Preferences, where you can choose whether to see the part-Māori wording or English.

Incidentally, the model page for "places" is now Wikipedia:Wāhi.

I hardly check this talk page....but keep up the good work.
