What this mediawiki page does[takatā pūtake]

This goes in a box at the top of virtually every page. It is sometimes used for urgent messages such as appeals for funds, but in normal times just acts as an introduction or remains blank.

The difference the "/mi" tag makes[takatā pūtake]

(Robin can't remember; it would be good if we had an explanation from one of the admins who is more familiar with mediawiki. This version is NOT the one that currently appears with "mi" and Cologne Blue preferences.)

Content and appearance[takatā pūtake]

Seems incongruous that a mediawiki with a "/mi" tag should have more English language than its untagged counterpart! But at least it still has a bit of the colour I gave it: that may give Kahuroa some ideas about how to put more colour into the Main page. Robin Patterson 00:34, 22 Poutū-te-rangi 2006 (UTC)

I am going to redo the main page, I know I said that a while ago but I am busy. Changing it by degrees now is just making it harder for me. Use of colour clashes with the use of a background image (the open book) - I think its better to have a backgound image than a colour anyway, since our main page is graphic-depleted. The clash is because it is hard to get some browsers to display images with transparent backgrounds properly, and so risk ugly white borders around the image. The white at the top of the main page is part of the design, not a fault. Kahuroa 00:49, 22 Poutū-te-rangi 2006 (UTC)
