Talk:Te Whanga-nui-a-Tara
"Whanganui-ā-Tara" in the Reed Pocket Dictionary, p 20 (along with "Poneke"). I suppose TW has a preference. Robin Patterson 06:29, 20 Pipiri 2006 (UTC)
Recent changes
[takatā pūtake]- Changing "awa" to "wai" looks like an unnecessary broadening of the subject; however, in the case of this city it adds only one harbour (shared with Awakairangi) unless we can find local names for numerous bays. Some Anglophiles will be tempted to add "foreign" names of bays if the Te Reo versions don't appear soon.
- Reed Pocket Dictionary (not exhaustively authoritative) definitely has a macron for the "-a-". I'm more than happy not to have one.
Good work so far. How's Akarana coming along by comparison?
Kia ora. Robin Patterson 06:17, 18 Haratua 2006 (UTC)
- 1 E kore ahau e whakaae ana ki tō whakaaro - korekau he whakaroa noa i te kaupapa. He aha koe i kī pēnā ai?

[takatā pūtake]The use of the initial "Te" in the name is almost universal. I would be quite content to see someone move the page accordingly.
